All our rescue Labs are amazing and Quincy is no exception, like many he has been through some unpleasant experiences before arriving at his Foster home. However, we are happy to report he seems to have put all that behind him, although he can still be a little nervous on first meeting new humans.
Quincy is approximately 2 years old but still has the mindset of a puppy. He has discovered toys in the past few weeks and always has at least one with him at all times. He is a large dog, who thinks he’s a lap dog, at 68lbs his zoomies are quite something, as he hurtles around the room and launches himself at you on the sofa as his finale.
He loves to be touched and cuddles up whenever the opportunity arises. He can be calm and keeps himself occupied with his toy of choice, as long as he can hear his humans nearby. He eats well and is house trained. He treats his crate as a safe and happy place but doesn’t like to be confined for too long . He has attended basic behavioral classes and has mastered “sit” “down” “stay" very quickly. He loves a walk on the leash and walks well at your pace, when told to “heel" He is very smart and learns quickly, he just needs time and patience to help him develop further.
He gets on well with other dogs of all sizes and loves to play, which can become boisterous at times. He has no history of young children and based on his exuberance for life, we would not recommend him for a home with Children under 7 years old . He has no record with cats or other pets. However, he is fascinated by geckos and Iguanas in our yard, plus squirrels and birds on his walks.
Quincy will make a wonderful canine companion and his smile lights up your life every morning, when he celebrates the beginning of a new day. He needs a home where he is not left alone for long periods and is supported by an environment of patience and understanding, while he works through his late “puppy” phase. Given his size he needs space, inside and out, to express himself.
If you are an SSLR approved adopter, who can be the special family that can offer all the things he needs, your rewards from living with Quincy will be exceptionally joyful and deeply fulfilling . Quincy is being fostered in Fort Lauderdale
