- Volunteer Contact – Within days of submitting your surrender application, an SSLR volunteer will contact you to discuss your dog and explain next steps in the surrender process.
- In Home Evaluation – If we have potential foster space available, your dog will be evaluated by an SSLR volunteer. The evaluation is typically conducted in your home, but in special circumstances may occur at another mutually agreed location.
- Veterinary Records – You must provide all of the dog’s veterinary records. If you do not have copies, your veterinarian can usually email them directly to you.
- Transfer of Ownership – If the in-home evaluation results are positive and we have an available foster home, then we will arrange a date to take custody of the dog.
